Disastrous Flooding Cripples Rural Nepal

Nepal Needs Our Help Again

Devastating flooding has struck an area of Nepal that our foundation knows well. This is a region we regularly travel through to reach remote mountain communities and schools, including schools located along the Trisuli River that Rebuild Nepal Education Foundation has supported for years.

For families who were already living with very little, this disaster is an enormous setback. Homes, crops, livestock, food supplies, and basic necessities have been lost.

Our next volunteer team is scheduled to leave the United States for Nepal on October 12, 2026. This trip has been planned for nearly a year, with volunteers preparing to work with approximately 5,000 underprivileged children.

Because the flooding has directly affected communities along our route, we now have an opportunity to do even more.

We Will Be There. We Want to Bring Help with Us.

Our team will be able to deliver assistance directly to families and communities affected by the flooding, including areas that are remote and may receive limited outside aid.

• Food and essential supplies
• Clean water and water-related necessities
• Medical supplies
• Assistance for families who have lost crops and livestock
• Emergency support for children and families in the affected communities

Rebuild Nepal Education Foundation founder Ernest Schiller was honored with the Chasing Rainbows Award: an award associated with Dolly Parton's Dollywood Foundation, recognizing individuals who have overcome adversity and used their lives to make a difference through education.

That same belief--that education and opportunity can change a life--continues to guide our work in Nepal today.

Our Impact

Since 2015, Rebuild Nepal Education Foundation has

• Worked with more than 500 schools throughout Nepal
• Reached over 300,000 Nepali students
• Helped more than 30,000 children attend and remain in school
• Welcomed more than 200 international volunteers from the United States, Australia, New Zealand, Canada, Scotland, England, and France

Even during the COVID-19 pandemic, when our international volunteers were unable to enter Nepal, our 65 Nepali volunteers continued our mission. Together, they delivered more than 6,000 food boxes, each containing enough food to support a family for approximately one month, to families whose livelihoods had disappeared when tourism came to a halt.
